I’ve hosted March Madness tournaments here before, but this year I’m super excited to team up with ButchWonders, Bess Sadler, and the Campaign for Southern Equality to organize a bracket challenge to raise money for marraige equality.
The basic details are described at Announcing … Mad for Equality! We are planning on a $10 per bracket entry fee, with 1/3 of the pot going to the winner(s), 1/3 to Campaign for Southern Equality, and 1/3 to another LGBT equality charity to be determined by popular vote. So — head over to Butch Wonders and nominate your favorite charity.
As noted on ButchWonders, you really don’t need to know anything about basketball to enter. In fact, we plan to provide some sort of recognition for the the most creative “themed” brackets — so you libranian types might want to come up with something a bit more clever than the All-HathiTrust bracket (Just Kidding — that was awesome!).
The tournament field will be announced on Monday, March 18; and brackets will be due before the First Round games start on Saturday, March 23. Note that we are running this bracket challenge for the regular tournament only. If there is enough interest, we might expand to include the Men’s tournament (see what I did there?).
Stay tuned for details about how to pay your $10 and enter your bracket(s). If you are on Twitter, you can follow along via hashtag #Mad4Equality.
And Go Cardinal, Go Blue Devils!
(In my ideal tournament, Stanford meets Duke in the Championship Game; which goes to 10 overtimes, forcing the NCAA to declare Co-Champions.)
